For decades I have wondered what happened to the missing Esther Williams wetlook scene in her 1958 film "A Raw Wind in Eden". The film was savaged by the critics and was not released on VHS for 50 years. The only copy I had came from a low quality tv copy in the 1980's. The pics to promote the film (see attached) looked interesting and appeared to be the most daring scene she ever did, but all those scenes were deleted from the copy of film I had. Very recently the film has been restored and is now released at HD quality, so I grabbed a copy to see whether they restored the missing beach scene. NOPE - still not there.
I still have no idea why they deleted this scene, but there is a wetlook scene in the film where Esther swims in white blouse and pants to a yacht. I know that Esther was engaged to her co star Jeff Chandler at the time, and she broke off the engagement because Jeff was a crossdresser and she got sick and tired of him wearing all her dresses in private. She wrote about this in her biography.
